Meet the Mayor

Few dogs capture the never-quit spirit of New York like Machka. She was born in Elbistan, Türkiye, and came through the 2023 Türkiye–Syria earthquakes. Later she survived a serious car accident that cost her a leg. None of it slowed her down. She's still a certified speed walker.

Her mom in Türkiye, Funda, gave her the best chance at a safe, happy life. That chance brought Machka to New York and to her devoted mom, Kylen. Today she lives in Sunnyside, Queens, where the neighbors welcomed her with open paws.

Her real life mission? Finding the best ice cream in all five boroughs. But she's running for office to give back to the city that took her in.

More homes across the five boroughs where pets are welcome, not just tolerated.

  • Shelters & adoptions
